Dream Song II is the first song from the upcoming Chameleon Treat album, Serious Leisure Pursuit.

The wonderful artwork for this single was made by Andrew Jowdy Collins... a person that motivates me to make better things/develop a sustainable practice. I’m always blown away by AJ’s pieces, so it’s truly a privilege to use one for a visual.

This one is about an idea that I first thought of in a dream. I tried to preserve it by humming into my phone, but my phone is full of these little indecipherable fragments. Even a few hours later, they usually sound like nonsense. They rarely get turned into actual songs. Almost never. Looking at the recording amongst the other files, I almost felt bad for the voice memo. It seemed doomed. I imagined it acquiring sentience and attempting to persuade me to finish it. I decided to give the song a platform, and that’s precisely what this song is.

So, this is a dream pop song about dreaming up songs… but it’s mostly just about how even those perfect little pop nuggets need a ton of other secondary ideas in order to exist.
